Giovina Gargari was born in Monte San Giovanni Campano on the 11th of December, 1874. She married Angelo Belli and bore his sons Giuseppe and Amedeo — and when Angelo died in 1901 she was left a widow at twenty‑seven.
She did not stay one. In Rome she married again — Serafino Paolessi — and raised a second family, four more children between 1905 and 1912, half‑siblings to her Belli boys. Her life ran in two chapters, and both of them unfolded in the capital.
